Honestly… I’m not doing all that.

So this is the simple Sunday reset routine I come back to when I want to start Monday feeling ahead — not already behind.

Sunday is a day of rest, and this is really just about doing a few small things that reduce decision fatigue during the week.
Because nothing feels worse than starting Monday already behind.
Doing dinner dishes on Monday is one thing…
Doing breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes from the weekend too? No thank you.
The goal is simple:

Being a mom means your mental checklist is never ending.
Between:
- dinners
- groceries
- school schedules
- activities
- appointments
…it adds up fast.

- dinner feels more manageable
Especially when you already have a plan.

My Simple Sunday Reset Routine For Busy Moms
I do not do everything every Sunday.
These are just the things that help the most.
1. Reset the Kitchen
This is always where I start.
- unload + reload dishwasher
- wash what doesn’t fit
- wipe counters
- quick vacuum
If the kitchen feels clean, the whole house feels better.
2. Check the Calendar for the Week

I’m borderline psycho and I have calendars everywhere.
I love my phone calendar because I need those 30-minute reminders before appointments…
but I also love pen and paper.
So I:
- make sure everything in my phone is on the fridge calendar
- plan out my week in my paper planner
- coordinate meals before Costco
There’s just something about seeing it all laid out that makes the week feel easier.
3. Make a Simple Dinner Plan
I follow my weekly dinner rotation… but depending on the week, I move things around.
I’m like Jack Sparrow—it’s more of a guideline.
If I know we have a busy afternoon:
- that’s a crockpot day
Simple adjustments like that make a huge difference.
4. Grocery Check or Quick Pickup

I try to check what I already have before we go to Costco.
Does it always happen? No.
Sometimes I have 100 eggs in my fridge… but it’s fine.
We buy a lot of the same things every week, so if we have too much of something, I just freeze it and move on.
If I need extra things:
- Target delivery
- Walmart
- sometimes even grocery delivery
And honestly?
My husband thinks it’s more expensive… but I think it saves us money.
Because I only buy what I actually need.

5. Reset Laundry, Bags & Outfits
I try not to do laundry on Sundays because I want to spend time with my family.
But if there’s stuff sitting in the dryer… oops.
So I:
- put away what’s already clean
- restock my gym bag
- have my daughter clean out her backpack and pack lunch
She’s been packing her lunch since first grade, and honestly—it’s one of the best things we’ve done.
It makes school mornings so much easier.
6. Do One Thing That Makes the House Feel Better

For me—it’s the couch.
If the couch looks messy, the whole house feels messy.
So I:
- fix the covers
- fluff pillows
- fold blankets
Then I have the girls:
- clean up toys
- reset the playroom
- fix the shoes in the mudroom
It’s a small thing, but it changes everything.
Sometimes I get wild and wash sheets…
But usually that turns into me forgetting them in the washer all day and rewashing them Monday.
So… I just don’t do that anymore 😂
What I Don’t Do During My Sunday Reset
I don’t:
- do a full deep clean
- spend all day doing chores
- try to “restart my life” every week
And I don’t do laundry on Sundays.
Because Sundays are for:
👉 family
👉 rest
👉 a light reset
Not burnout.
How I Keep My Sunday Reset Realistic
Sundays are for family first.
The reset just supports that.
Some Sundays:
- we do a full reset + Costco + light prep
Other Sundays:
- dishes, counters, done
Both count.
Sometimes I even convince my husband to help me pressure wash the patio while the kids play outside…
Other Sundays, I barely do anything.
And that’s okay.
The goal is:
👉 make the week easier
👉 not make Sunday harder
