Cabo is fun. It’s Mexico, but honestly, it kind of feels like California. There’s a Costco, tons of great restaurants, a beautiful marina, and it’s an easy flight from Las Vegas.
We first went to Cabo when Selene was 3 for my second Mother’s Day. We stayed at Hyatt Ziva and had such a good time.
This trip, we were going over Thanksgiving with my brother-in-law and his family. One of the biggest deciding factors was the direct Alaska Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Cabo.
You just can’t beat a 2.5-hour flight when you’re traveling with kids.
We decided to try Garza Blanca Los Cabos because the resort looked beautiful, the rooms were huge, and it was available through Costco Travel.
And honestly, if Costco has it, it must be good.
That’s my opinion anyway.

About the Resort
Garza Blanca is a beachfront resort in Los Cabos with direct beach access, multiple pools, restaurants, and plenty of space to hang out without feeling like you need to leave the property every day.
The resort is about 40 minutes from the airport, so it is a bit of a drive when you first arrive.
It’s also close enough to the marina that getting there for activities was easy. We took an Uber down when we rented a boat to go snorkeling and see Los Arcos.
One important thing to know: even though the resort sits right on the beach, this is Cabo.
The ocean here is not really swimmable.
The waves can get really big, so we treated the beach more as a place to walk, take in the view, and enjoy being by the water.

Our Room
The room was one of the main reasons we chose this resort, and it absolutely delivered.
We stayed in a One-Bedroom Ocean-View Suite, and it was huge.
Our suite was somewhere around 1,500 to 2,000 square feet and had so much space for the four of us.
There was a separate living area with a pullout couch, a full dining table, a kitchenette, and even a stackable washer and dryer. The bedroom was completely separate and had a huge bathroom attached.
And then there was the balcony — easily the largest balcony we’ve ever had at a hotel. It was massive, with plenty of room to sit outside and actually enjoy the ocean view instead of just stepping out for a minute and going back inside.
For our little family of four, it was amazing.
It was probably one of the best hotel rooms we’ve ever stayed in. We had so much space to spread out, and that matters a lot to us when we travel with the girls. We are very much “the room matters” people, and Garza Blanca definitely gets points for that.
If a beautiful, spacious room is high on your priority list, this was easily the standout part of the resort for us.

Grounds & Atmosphere
The property itself was beautiful.
It felt upscale and polished without feeling overly formal, and the resort was big enough to have plenty going on without feeling overwhelmingly huge.
We spent a lot of time walking around the property, hanging out near the pools, and enjoying the ocean views.
The whole trip had a really relaxed feel.
It wasn’t one of those vacations where we were trying to cram in activities from morning to night.
A little pool.
A little beach.
A little boat day.
A good dinner off property.
That’s a pretty ideal family trip for us.

Pools & Amenities
The pool area was spread across multiple levels with lots of loungers and ocean views.
The girls loved swimming, and their little vacation drink quickly became the Mango Tango slushies they ordered by the pool.
There was also a fun glass section around the pool area that the kids thought was so cool. We spent a lot of time swimming, lounging, and just hanging out together. The resort worked really well for that kind of family trip where you want enough to do without constantly needing an itinerary.
The gym was also a nice option for anyone who likes to get a workout in while traveling.
What We Did Outside the Resort
One thing I really liked about this trip was that we didn’t stay on the resort the entire time.
We took an Uber down to the marina, walked around for a bit, and then chartered a private boat for the family.
We went whale watching, cruised by the Arch of Cabo San Lucas, and stopped to do some snorkeling.

The girls loved being out on the boat, and it ended up being one of the best parts of the trip.
That’s usually our favorite kind of vacation anyway — enough resort time to actually relax, but still getting out and seeing where we are.
For Thanksgiving dinner, we also left the resort and ate at Carbon Cabron, which was very good.
So the trip ended up having a really nice balance: pool days, beach walks, a boat day, time at the marina, and a great dinner off property.
Dining at Garza Blanca Cabo
This was probably the biggest disappointment for us.
The food wasn’t horrible, but it also wasn’t the best all-inclusive food we’ve had.
The Italian restaurant was pretty good.
The steak restaurant was okay. Not the best steak I’ve ever had, but definitely edible.
The breakfast buffet was probably our least favorite part.
We ended up ordering room service for breakfast and eating on the balcony instead, and honestly, we liked that so much better.

The girls were always able to find something to eat at the restaurants, so nobody starved. 😂
But if food is a huge part of your vacations, this is probably the biggest thing I would keep in mind before booking.
We also ate off-property during the trip.

For Thanksgiving dinner, we took an Uber to Carbon Cabron, and that meal was very good.
It ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip and honestly made me even happier that we didn’t feel like we had to eat every single meal at the resort just because we were staying all-inclusive.
That ended up being a nice balance for us because we could enjoy the convenience of an all-inclusive resort while still getting out and trying some of Cabo’s restaurants.
What We Loved
The room was absolutely the biggest win. It was huge, comfortable, and gave us plenty of space as a family of four.
We also loved the pool setup, the ocean views, and how easy it was to have slow resort days without feeling bored.
The location worked well for us too. We could spend the day at the resort and still easily Uber to the marina or head off property for dinner.
And traveling with extended family made the trip even more fun because the girls got plenty of cousin time.
Overall, it felt like a really balanced family vacation.
Things to Consider
The biggest thing I would consider before booking Garza Blanca is what matters most to you on vacation.
If food is a major priority, this probably would not be my first choice. The food was fine, but for us, it never really matched how impressive the room and property were.
The beach is also not really swimmable. You can absolutely walk along it and enjoy the ocean views, but if your dream Cabo vacation involves spending all day swimming in the ocean, this probably is not the property for that.
The resort is also about 40 minutes from the airport, so keep that travel time in mind.
This is where I feel like all-inclusive resorts get tricky because it seems like you can never get all three:
amazing room + amazing beach + amazing food
At Hyatt Ziva, the room was decent, the property was pretty, the beach wasn’t swimmable, but the food was better.
At Garza Blanca, the room was gorgeous, the property was beautiful, the beach still wasn’t swimmable, and the food was mid.
No one got sick, so that’s a plus. And honestly, if you aren’t a snobby food person, you might love it.

All-Inclusive Access Ends at Checkout
One thing that really left a bad taste in my mouth was how the all-inclusive access worked on checkout day.
Our checkout time was 11 a.m., but we had a later flight, so we were hanging around the resort for a little while before our airport transfer.
Around noon, we decided to grab lunch before leaving and were told our all-inclusive benefits had ended at checkout, so we would have to pay for the meal.
I know policies vary by resort, but most of the all-inclusive properties we’ve stayed at have allowed us to continue using the restaurants and resort amenities until it was actually time to leave for the airport.
So being told that lunch was no longer included barely an hour after checkout felt very nickel-and-dimey.
It wasn’t a huge expense in the grand scheme of the trip, but it was one of those little service details that changed how I felt about the overall experience — especially at a resort at this price point.

Is Garza Blanca Cabo Worth It?
I think it can be, depending on what matters most to your family.
If you care about a gorgeous room, lots of space, a beautiful pool area, ocean views, and an easy family-friendly resort setup, Garza Blanca does those things really well.
If food is one of the biggest parts of your vacation, I’d probably look at a few other options too.
We had a great trip, and I’m glad we stayed there.
Would I rush back to the exact same resort?
Probably not.
Would I go back to Cabo?
Absolutely.

Would We Stay Again?
Probably not at this exact property.
Not because we had a bad experience — we didn’t.
I just think Cabo has enough great resorts that I’d rather try somewhere new and see if we can find the magical combination of amazing room + amazing food + amazing beach.
The search continues.
